Aluminum Flat Plate Freezers

Lynxcool aluminum flat plate freezers are designed for block freezing applications such as tuna loins, fish blocks, shrimp blocks, and meat products. The aluminum freezing plates contain internal refrigerant channels that provide direct heat transfer between the product and the cooling surface.

Standard plate dimensions are available for common seafood and meat processing applications. For special block sizes, plate dimensions and refrigerant channel layouts can be customized according to product thickness, required freezing time, and refrigeration conditions.

Vertical Plate Freezers

Vertical plate freezers are commonly used in seafood and meat processing plants where compact block freezing is required. Products are loaded between vertically arranged aluminum plates, and a hydraulic compression system maintains close contact between the product and freezing surfaces.

This design helps maintain consistent block thickness and freezing performance during repeated production cycles. Vertical plate freezers are suitable for tuna blocks, shrimp blocks, fish fillets, and meat products where product shape and stacking efficiency are important.

Automatic Vertical Plate Freezers

For processing plants with continuous production requirements, Lynxcool supplies vertical plate freezers with automatic unloading systems. The PLC-controlled system manages plate opening and product discharge, reducing manual handling during repeated freezing operations.

Automatic unloading is suitable for multi-shift production environments where stable cycle times and reduced operator involvement are required.

Horizontal Plate Freezers

Horizontal plate freezers are designed mainly for packaged products placed in cartons or trays. The horizontal plate arrangement allows products to freeze directly inside their final packaging, making them suitable for ready meals, processed seafood, and retail food products.

Compared with vertical models, horizontal plate freezers require less overhead space and can be integrated into factories with limited ceiling height.

Reduced Dehydration and Higher Product Yield

Plate freezing reduces moisture loss because the product is frozen through direct contact with aluminum plates rather than exposed to high-velocity cold air.

In air blast freezing systems, surface dehydration can cause noticeable weight loss, especially for high-value seafood products such as tuna loins. Under similar freezing conditions, plate freezing can reduce dehydration losses to below 0.5%.

For a seafood processing line producing 20 tons per day, reducing dehydration by 1.5% can retain approximately 300 kg of additional sellable product every day. This is particularly important for products where raw material cost represents a major part of production expenses.

The flat surfaces of plate-frozen blocks also improve storage and transportation efficiency. Products can be stacked more tightly in cold storage and shipping containers, reducing unused space during logistics.

Plate Material and Refrigeration Design

Lynxcool plate freezers use food-grade aluminum alloy plates, including 5083 and 6061 aluminum. These materials provide good thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance, and long-term durability in seafood and meat processing environments.

The refrigerant channels are machined inside the aluminum plates instead of using external welded pipes. This construction improves surface temperature uniformity and reduces potential leakage risks caused by additional welding joints.

Plate thickness and channel design are selected according to refrigerant type, including ammonia (R717), CO₂ (R744), and Freon refrigerants, as well as the required evaporating temperature.

Custom Plate Freezer Design

Different products require different freezing plate sizes and cycle parameters. Lynxcool designs plate freezer systems according to actual production requirements, including product dimensions, daily capacity, refrigeration conditions, and available installation space.

For non-standard block sizes, we can modify plate width, length, thickness, and internal refrigerant channel layout. Before manufacturing, our engineers provide equipment drawings and freezing calculations to ensure the system matches the customer's production process.

Manufacturing and Testing

Lynxcool manufactures plate freezers together with IQF freezers, freeze dryers, and refrigeration systems. This allows our engineering team to consider the complete freezing process, refrigeration capacity, and factory integration during equipment design.

Before shipment, every plate freezer undergoes pressure testing, sealing inspection, and operating tests. For customized projects, freeze cycle testing can be performed using customer product samples to verify expected freezing performance.
